Barry Bonds - the Best hitter in Baseball

At the 2007 All-Star Break, Barry Bonds had a 1.09 OPS and a .511 OBP that made him the number one hitter in Baseball.
America loves a winner, right? So why doesn't anyone love Barry?
Truly, I have to figure that most of America is just too stupid to have an original thought. Once the media started bashing Barry, the majority of the public simply followed along.
And, Barry does little off the field to prove the media wrong... to prove that he really is worthy of being loved. He doesn't exactly have the personality that makes you want to love him... but, shouldn't his on-field performance account for something?
Too many fans now just regurgitate the media's hatred of Bonds. It's cool to hate Bonds. Most of the Bonds-haters I run into barely have any knowledge of baseball, but they sure can talk up a storm about how upset Barry makes them. It's quite sad, actually.
I am still awaiting a news report that says "Actually, Bonds is quite good this year." I have a feeling I'll be waiting awhile for that. In the "Paris-Hilton-scandal worshipping" world we live in now, the public seems ready for more dirt all the time. The scandals are all the rage, right? Steroids, Bonds-Bashing, BALCO talk... taint a few players, throw in accusations, drag in a few mentions of McGwire or Sosa and the crowd goes wild! Not sure if that's the right way to go, though.
Baseball, in my mind, will always be a truely American sport. And, I always thought baseball fans were different. Lovers of the game. I find myself longing for the "Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie" world. And, fans who just love Baseball enough to move past all the hatred and get back to watching baseball instead of wallowing in the filth the media dishes out.
I really am fed up with the know-it-all "fans" who want asterisks next to players names over the past few year, or boo at the sight of Bonds. I just want to get back to watching Baseball!
That's why I wear my new shirt daily that reads "Screw Everybody...I love Bonds" - it helps me put this all in perspective. I mean, really, I don't care what anyone thinks. I enjoy Bonds, I enjoy Baseball... and it's time I came out of the closet about it!

Just saw your post, but I got one of the shirts that says "Screw Everybody.. I love Bonds" yesterday on Ebay! Go Giants!

I love watching baseball, and have found that I have to turn down the vol during Giants broadcasts half the time. I don't even think the commentators for the Giants are Giants fans. It's crazy.

Go Barry! Can't wait to get my shirt and wear it to the games next weekend!

Great. Thanks for the info. Always looking for some cool SF Giants stuff. Very original. Love Barry, too.
I loved the www.screweverybody.com website and felt at home when they described the stupid relatives and guy at the bar and stuff. I am surrounded by Barry haters. I love your comment about the public being too stupid to think anything else. Most of the Barry haters I know have the IQ of a shrimp.
Anyway, looking forward to this fun-filled month where Barry will, more than likely, break Hank's record!

I am and always will be a Barry Bonds fan. I know exactly how you feel about the game of baseball, and not about all the drama that the players go though. Let the players enjoy the game they love. Let the real baseball fans enjoy watching without all the bitching that goes on.
